"Expensive blanket" By Cindy L. Widner (Tazewell, TN) I realize that all babies need a bed. But really, don't you think the toy was expensive enough. Does it really cost $20 to make a piece of cloth and a little fuzzy boot? TOO EXPENSIVE for what was received.
"Zhu-Zhu Bed" By Joanne L. Gonzalez (Cleveland, OH USA) My grandaughter (5 yrs) loved this darling bed for her Zhu Zhu pet. As she has three, only two fit in the bedroom, so the third one got the cute bed. Snug as a bug in a rug!
"What A Rip!" By K. Krawford (Duluth, GA USA) I just don't get this toy. My granddaughter wanted one for Christmas so away we go. I had never seen one in person and it's a bit difficult to tell exactly what this thing is like from the picture. When it arrived I was appalled! It looks like something you get from a vending machine in an arcade for 25 cents. This "Bed & Blanket" must have all of 50 cents worth of material. What a rip for $17.98. Live and learn.
"Zhu Zhu Pets accesory" By J. Currie (Pine Bluff, Arkansas) This toy is a Christmas present for my grand. I'm so glad I ordered early. The price on the ZhuZhu Pet has doubled or more on many sites (if they are available at all).

"I am surprised to see it's a hit for 4-year & 9-year-old nieces" By DISNEYBOOKS (CA United States) I heard of these toys from a friend but didn't really think much about it. A little mechanical hamster that runs around and makes some noise, nah.... that's what I thought and I said to myself that I would never buy such a toy for my kids. Then I intended to buy some play doh or coloring books for my nieces who will visit us, and I saw these little guys on the shelf. I asked a sale's person, and he explained to me why this is popular and fun with kids, and somehow he convinced me that this would make a fun toy for 4 and 9 years old girls. So I decided to go for it.
Well, my nieces were very happy to hold them in their hands, find a small box to put them in with dish towel over them as a blanket, and then carry the box all around the house. And they even built a little house and entry way with magna tiles (which is my favorite toy anyway) to sleep in or hide in. I could see them nurturing and caring of a pet.
I realized that when you're a little kid, it is just great to have a toy that makes a little sound and scoot around in the living room, and just right size to hold it in your small hands... They might get bored of it having them for 6 months. But for the moment, this hamster is the best thing ever for my nieces. Great invention that has brought lots of smiles to my nieces. And also pure luck being at a store when they have them.
Personally, I'm not reviewing this for the price. I'm simply reviewing a toy based on what reaction I've received after giving them to 2 preteen girls.
"Cute toy" By Cat Chow (SF, CA) My 3.5 years old daugther saw this on tv during our Thanksgiving vacation and has been asking for it since. Found them at CVS for $9.99 a week before Christmas. I have to say it is quite cute. I also got her the carrying bag and she enjoys carrying it around more than letting it run around. The bag is made really small to fit the pet tight so she has trouble putting the hamster in it. She tore up the box and we threw away the user's guide so we are still trying to figure out how it works. I don't expect this toy to last too long based on it's price, but for now it's worth it.
"Enjoyable hamster" By Melissa D. Monroy (Kaiserslautern, Germany) My daughter recieved the pink zhu zhu hamster for Christmas and totally adores it! We enjoy how it zips around, makes little noises and unlike a real hamster we can shut it off and not clean up after it. She is 8 and finds it rather amusing, we are planning on getting her the accessories for her birthday and another hamster. My daughter loves animals! and finds joy in toys like her zhu zhu hamster. I would recommend this toy to others, I just wouldnt pay more then the original asking price of 9.00 - 9.99
"Very Cute But Doesn't Last" By Rochelle Kolhouse I purchased, "Jilly" for my daughter for Christmas. I was so excited to see they had a pink one! She received it on Christmas Eve and it worked great. It was so cute! She didn't play with it much yesterday since we were out and about. However, today she pulled it out and it worked for about five minutes. Then she brought it to me...no sound and it would not move. I naturally replaced the batteries...nothing. I then took the whole thing apart. I was able to get the sound to work when the nose (which fell out incidentally)is pushed. However, the buttons on the top no longer work at all and the wheels no longer turn. I have read multiple reviews on Toys R Us.com that complain about this very same problem! This is such a shame. I know these things are cheap, but do they really have to stop working after only a full day of play? My daughter is so disappointed and so am I. I will be calling the company on Monday...keeping my fingers crossed that they will send me a replacement as these are impossible to find now.
"We love zhu zhu pets!" By A. White (Boulder) They are silly, yes. But they are so fun and not to mention adorable. We have had ours for about 3 months and we have had no problems with the durability. I wish people would stop giving the toys bad reviews because they are mad about the mark-up (which does suck) because these toys are fun! I have just as much fun with them as my three year old son,and 10 year old niece! We barely use the accessories though, they were sort of a waste of money. My kiddo just lets his run all around the floor, and sometimes the hamster ball. The other stuff just collects dust.

"O-V-E-R-R-A-T-E-D" By Ashley's Mom (upstate NY) My 3-1/2 year old, like most kids, HAD to have this. Santa brought her four hampsters and almost all the play house add ons. This one was the second biggest disappointment (next to the car with garage). The hampster will run in the wheel about once every ten times, and even then just does it momentarily before heading back down the tunnel. Before New Year's even hit, my daughter collected up the entire lot and said, "here, mom, send these back. They're too breakable and not fun to play with". Too breakable? Even a three year old recognizes poor quality! This is a kid that plays for hours with cardboard boxes, sticks, wooden spoons, etc. And she wanted to send them back to Santa after only a few days? This will go down on my list as one of those "cave into peer pressure then regret it later" purchases. Save your money.
"I think we got a good wheel.. its cute!" By Lisa M. Anderson (San Antonio, TX) We have the wheel for the zhu-zhus.. and I'm seeing a lot of comments that the wheel doesnt spin freely - well, ours sure does! All three of our zhu-zhus can run in the wheel freely, and it spins just fine here! Perhaps for some it wasnt put together properly? Not sure there.. but we bought a wheel that works just fine!
And, this add on accessory happens to be one of the more sturdy ones - we have never had a problem with this particular accessory falling apart or coming undone.. it stays put! The hamster does not get stuck in the tunnel here.. but, you do have to help the zhu-zhu back into the tunnel (just by pushing its nose, redirecting it to go back into the tunnel) when he is "done" exercising ("done" defined when you are done seeing him run in the wheel!) - So, it would be nice if the zhu-zhu would go back into the tunnel after entering the wheel by itself.. but it doesnt. Nevertheless, this accessory gets a 5 stars b/c it is a lot of fun, stays together, and for us the wheel does spin freely.. and man do those zhu-zhus love a good workout!
"Cute accessory, not overly durable." By T. Distaso (North of Boston) Really it is what it is, a plastic play wheel TOY for the Zhu zhu pet hamsters. While it is not overly durable and the hamsters can get "stuck from time to time, it is a cute accessory for the hamsters. I did think some of the tubes were kind of hard to snap together, once together firmly I do not fear it will fall apart easily. Just don't have very high expectations for it.

"Hamster gets stuck, plastic is CHEAP" By Ainsley's Mommy (Ohio) After helping my sister round up Zhu Zhu pet everything for her daughter for Christmas, we ended up with enough stuff to also give my three year old her own set of two hamsters, a fun house, the wheel and the car/garage. The hamsters are cute and my daughter loves the whole set, but the tunnels and accessories are SO flimsy they are about equal in quality to the toys you find at the dollar store. The wheel is especially problematic. The connectors detach constantly and needs to be reassembled. Plus the hamsters cannot get out of the tunnel on their own. On our set the wheel spins well, but then the hamsters get stuck and cannot back out of it, so they need to be fished out (which is harder than it sounds and often leads to the connectors detaching again). The hamsters often fall over on their side in this too. Al in all my this toy is cute, but really, really poorly made. I am SO glad that I got everything from Toys R Us for the SRP and didn't overpay or I would be beyond disappointed!
